It's COLLEGE GO WEEK!
Attention Seniors! Are you ready to start filling out your college applications? Indiana’s College Application Week is coming up on September 21 – 25, 2020, and many colleges and universities will be waiving their application fees during the week. Find out application information for the colleges you plan to apply to, including if they’ll be waiving their fees, by visiting LearnMoreIndiana.org/college/applying-to-schools/#app-process. While you’re there, be sure to read through the list of things you’ll need before you start your applications. You can use this list to help you gather everything you’ll need. If you’re still figuring out what colleges may be a good fit, set up an appointment with your counselor. You can also start your research using this worksheet.

IMPORTANT CTE UPDATES 2020- IN PERSON CLASSES BEGIN 8/31/20
Dear Cardinal CTE Students and Parents,
I hope this letter finds you and your family healthy. As we begin our 2020-2021 school year in unprecedented and constantly changing times, this letter is intended to explain how Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes will be affected. Here at Central High School we offer a variety of CTE courses to help students become college and career ready upon graduation. Many of these courses offer dual-credit opportunities, certifications, and thus requires a hands-on approach to learning.
The Indiana Office of CTE through the Governor's Workforce Cabinet has provided guidance for how CTE courses can be successfully held during this upcoming school year. The Office of CTE has encouraged schools to offer CTE courses through a classroom based or blended model if possible. These models support the highest level of engagement for the hands-on nature of CTE courses. Some courses are able to fully meet Indiana State Standards through a completely virtual format. However, some courses require a hands-on learning approach in order to meet Indiana state standards and certification hours. Below you will find a list for which courses at Central High School require in-class instruction. Students must come to Central High School to meet with their instructor in-person. Transportation will be provided to students.
CTE Courses Requiring In-Person Instruction
- Students must report directly to their classroom.
- Breakfast and lunch will be served in a manner that students can safely social distance
- Students and Staff must practice social distancing when possible. Classrooms have been set up in order to social distance as best as possible. Class sizes will be limited as best as possible.
- Students and Staff should do a self-assessment of their health daily, including taking their temperature. This needs to occur before coming to school.
- Students and Staff must be respectful of one another and wear a mask at all times.
- Students and Staff should inform Central High School of any health updates.
- Food and drink will not be allowed in the classroom (exception to Advanced Culinary Arts).
- Students should not share school supplies with one another.
- Hand hygiene should be practiced frequently.
- Students will move in one-way directions throughout the building.
Our CTE teachers are committed to providing a safe learning environment for students to receive hands-on training. We are working closely with the Local Health Department in order to make the best and most informed decisions for our students and staff. Please check the CTE page on our school website for further information and details about our CTE Covid Re-Entry Plan and transportation.
