Ed-Flex Waiver
On August 2, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education (USED) approved the renewal of Indiana’s Application for the Educational Flexibility Program (Ed-Flex) through the 2028-2029 school year. This approval was granted after local education agencies (LEAs) had the opportunity to provide public input regarding the waiver request. School City of East Chicago plans to request flexibility under Waiver 2 and Waiver 4 for the 2026-2027 school year.
The U.S. Department of Education and Indiana Department of Education provide local school districts the flexibility to waive certain requirements that may make it difficult to improve educational achievements. Our district is pursuing two waivers:
