Facilities
The School City of East Chicago Facilities Department is responsible for the maintenance of all facilities within our school district with the goal of maintaining a safe and collaborative learning environment for all students.
All capital projects for the district are coordinated through Facilities. Currently, we are upgrading our HVAC systems and the controls throughout the buildings at SCEC. Below you can view our Conditional Assessment & Facility Improvement Projects 2022 done by Schmidt Associates.
The Facility Assessment Process
The purpose of the Facilities Assessment is to develop a tool to analyze the physical conditions of the School City of East Chicago buildings. The results, divided into four categories (shell, sitework, services, and interiors), provide both an overall functional assessment of the existing conditions and a set of ranked priorities of critical needs. Each category represents a percent of the total facility value.
Custodial & Maintenance Services
The School City of East Chicago Custodial and Maintenance Departments play vital roles in maintaining safe and healthy environments for our students. Our employees in these departments provide a number of services for our students and have been trained in the best methods of repairing and maintaining the quality of all of our buildings.
An integral part of our custodial plan focuses on the health and well-being of our students and staff. Students can be in their classes learning when we minimize air allergens and the ability of germs to spread. Keeping clean buildings and structuring our buildings to promote healthy indoor air quality is paramount to the success of our students.
